MHX on Parade

Hard hats on the tarmac
Hi-viz vests are on parade,
Construction is on schedule,
And the deadlines being made.
Morale is on the up and up
The riggers work with pride,
The concrete pours precisely
And the public are onside.
Massive trucks fly back and forth
Hauling stone to pave
The motorway extensions
From hillside down to wave.
The progress is amazing,
Positivity extreme,
The Corp de Esprit encouraged
From the boss down through the team.
I’m just the gateman on thisjob,
I check the traffic flow
But I feel the pride in being
A small cog in this grand show!

Pylons vaulting skyward
Towering cranes to hand
Lifting massive platforms
Into place atop, to stand
Astride the balanced cantilever,
The reaching arms conjoined
To support the southbound motorway.
The catchword “MHX” is coined,
Manukau Harbour Crossing
A duplicate in line,
A sister to the Black Bridge
Built for another time.
The traffic flow is fluid,
The boys are on the ball,
We will have this project finalised
Before that World Cup whistle call.
The rain may pelt in sideways,
The sunshine bake the tar,
The gales may howl from westward
But advancement holds to par.
For collaborative progress
Is the keynote of this team
Our legacy and show piece...
A MIGHTY BRIDGE OF HIGH ESTEEM!
